Greetings everyone and welcome back to another exciting and fast paced school year. As we start the 2008 year we want to welcome all who are using the CMEA website as a source of information and communication. If you are a new marketing teacher or a seasoned marketing teacher you should consider getting involved with the CMEA organization as a resource for professional growth and social interaction with fellow marketing teachers from around the state.
This year’s CMEA Fall Conference just concluded at the Vail Marriott Resort in Vail Colorado and had a great turn out with sixty seven registrants enjoying the guest speakers, workshops and fabulous scenery. The content of the two day conference was about “Fun & Relevance” of what we do in the classroom and in our daily live. I think those who attended did have a lot of fun. We had very successful fun filled CMEA Auction generating money for the CMEA scholarships. Congratulations to Dave Haar for being elected as CMEA President Elect, Hilary Wimmer elected for CMEA Secretary and new CMEA Board members Dana Anderson and Jen Lerfald. A great big thank you to outgoing CMEA officers Gary Tenhulzen, Mark Stevens, Dan Sheeks and Kristi Sampson for the time and energy they put in to making sure CMEA is the leading professional CTE organization in the state.
As you get into your school year please use the CMEA site as a way to stay abreast of what is happening in marketing & DECA. Use it to contact fellow teachers when you have questions, Colorado marketing teachers are willing to share and help others, all you have to do is ask. Don’t forget to nominate a fellow marketing teacher for CMEA Marketing Teacher of the Year. It is great recognition in front of peers and students while at the State DECA conference at the Broadmoor. The applications are at the CMEA website.
I wish you luck as you speed through another year teaching marketing & DECA. And if you have any questions or need any help please contact any one of the CMEA officer team and they will be excited to help with whatever questions or confusions you may have. Believe me, most marketing teachers live in a state of confusion and disbelief as we try to teach this wonderful program of marketing & DECA.
Have a great year
Rand Coolman
CMEA President
